It uses a multi-layer filtering process that combines strict field validation, heuristic scoring, and AI-based classification to accurately detect and block spam before it reaches WordPress. Genuine submissions are safely stored and notified to the team, while spam entries are logged separately for analysis. This solution ensures clean data, saves manual effort, and keeps the website’s lead generation system secure and efficient.
Problem Statement
Before implementing this workflow, the client’s website was continuously receiving unwanted spam through contact forms, lead forms, and Elementor submissions. These spam entries were coming from bots, fake emails, disposable domains, and auto-generated messages — making it difficult for the team to track genuine leads.

- AI-Based Spam Classification Uses an OpenAI model to analyze the message context and classify it as “spam” or “ham” with confidence scoring, improving accuracy.
- Strict Rule Filter : Applies deterministic rules for test/demo entries, invalid emails, generic messages, short subjects, and harmful content.
- Smart Decision Engine : Combines AI, heuristics, and rule-based scoring to make a reliable final decision on whether the submission is spam.
- Spam Logging for Analysis : All spam entries are sent to a Google Sheet log for audit, which helps in analyzing spam patterns over time.
The final n8n workflow acts as a high-precision spam shield, reducing junk submissions by more than 95%, ensuring only quality leads reach the CRM or email inbox. This saves team time, improves lead accuracy, eliminates manual cleanup, and protects the WordPress backend from spam attacks.
